Chrissy Teigen and John Legend have a ridiculously adorable baby girl, who is probably the only celebrity baby I’d be willing to sit for while their parents go to the Met Gala. Look at this delightful child:
Teigen has been very open about how hard it was for her to conceive. She and Legend eventually turned to in vitro fertilization, undergoing numerous treatments so that the IVF would take. Teigen had to take hormones, which changed her body in ways that made her very uncomfortable, and also played with her emotions. They were private about the process until the pregnancy was a sure thing, but Teigen told SELF Magazine, “I looked horrible, totally not myself. Then to not be able to say what it was, it sucked."
But it was all worth it, because, once again, look at this kid:
Since Teigen has started talking about IVF, she gets a lot of questions about it. Lainey Gossip reports that on Monday, Teigen tweeted a response to a question she says she’s getting a lot. “Since this is coming up again, I said our next baby would be a boy because that is the embryo we have left. A boy. So. Yeah," she wrote.
Then some rando woman asked her a “helpful” question about her sex life, tweeting, “@chrissyteigen did you give it a minute to try naturally or are you avoiding ‘the act?’ At least no political rants!”
Wow, so much to unpack here. One, this lady is interested enough in Teigen to know she likes to talk politics, yet is bold enough to critique her for it. Two, she thinks that John Legend and Chrissy Teigen aren’t having sex? I doubt there’s another couple in the world who are so open about being into each other sexually. Third, couples who choose IVF shouldn’t be stigmatized by anyone’s insinuations that what they’re doing isn’t “natural.”
Teigen managed to encapsulate her frustration with Linda in a single Tweet, writing, “Hi Linda, thanks for asking, you complete witch. I tried for about 9 years. Anything else, let me know!”
Linda seems oblivious to why she just got dragged, but the responses in Teigen’s mentions are full of people who have gone through the difficulties of IVF. Many, thanking her for standing up for women struggling with fertility issues. Even trolls have their uses!
