This one is confusing so bear with us: just last month a handful of cities and states passed laws that would prevent transgender individuals from using the bathrooms that correlate to their identified gender. Conservatives have claimed the bills were not made specifically with transphobic intentions; they, instead, suggest that the laws are meant to protect citizens' privacy and prevent pedophiles and deviants from sneaking into restrooms of the opposite sex. The new regulations have faced serious backlash from civil liberties groups, progressives, and the LGBT community.
Now, in order to combat the outcry against such bigoted laws, conservative men are sneaking into women's rooms in order to prove the necessity for such laws. Wait, what?!
“I think there’s no question that when you say that there are no barriers in the bathroom,” Rios said, “and that if men or women feel like they are men or women, the opposition of however they are equipped, and you have no restrictions, the net effect will be that people will not be stopped. We’ve already had people testing this, going into Targets and men trying to go into bathrooms. There is absolutely no barrier.”
The backwards logic of this is impressively asinine. Ultimately, it seems that the conservative men who originally introduced the bathroom bills are now turning into the sneaky predators they claimed they were protecting people from.
Conservatives sure have been working hard at keeping women and children safe from "perverts" but who will keep us safe from them?!
