If you've ever wished you could try on a tattoo before getting it - without even having to go to a shop - then you're in luck. The Inkhunter app uses augmented reality to give users an idea of what their potential tattoo would look like, Mic reports.
The way it works is ridiculously simple: all you do is draw a smiley face on whatever part of your body you'd like the tattoo to be, and point your phone at it. The app creates a transparent image which will then "latch on" to the smiley face, using it as a guide to properly place the tattoo. You can then tilt your phone to see your potential tat from a variety of angles.
You can upload your own potential tattoo to preview or choose one from the app's gallery. Pretty cool, right? Even cooler is the fact that the Inkhunter app was created over the course of 48 hours during a hackathon event by four Ukrainian students. After launching the beta version in the fall, they released a newer, shinier version which is now available in the Apple app store.
