Is the secret really out? Nearly two months after Serena Williams announced that she and fiance Alexis Ohanian are expecting, it seems as if her sister Venus Williams has accidentally let slip the sex of Alexis and Serena's unborn child.
Following her match in the second round of the French Open this week, Venus referred to Serena's baby as a "she" during an interview with Eurosport.
"She's going to call me 'favorite aunt,'" Venus said.
"We're always like —every day — baby V, baby Lyn, baby Isha, we all want the baby to be named after us," she continued, referring to herself and her sisters.
So does this mean Serena's definitely having a girl? Don't be so sure. Serena later explained in an Instagram post that she prefers not to know the gender of the baby until she gives birth, though she does joke about the baby being a girl or a boy depending on which relative she's talking to at the time.
"I think the surprise of knowing what you are going to have on that very special day you give birth is prob the best surprise you can ever have," she wrote. "So to clarify what Venus said, I am always joking with my sisters to see what favors I can get them to do [for] me next."
"If I want something from one of my sisters I say baby Venus or Baby Isha needs it," she continued. "I did not grow up with any brothers, only sisters and we all say 'she' more than 'he.' Unless I'm joking with my dad or Alexis and I'm trying to con something out of them too. Hey I'm the youngest [of] 5, I've always tricked all of them, what can I say!"
