According to Fox 13, Elizabeth will be a special correspondent for Crime Watch Daily. “When I’m asked to go out and interview these other victims, these other survivors, I just think that it's so important to share their stories,” the now 29-year-old Smart said. “Not just for their own case, but for all the other victims and survivors who are out there so they know that they're not alone. That they know they can do something about it."
Crime Watch Daily airs on Fox in Salt Lake City.
Smart was kidnapped from her Salt Lake City bedroom by religious fanatic Brian David Mitchell. "Over the next nine months, Brian David Mitchell would rape me every day, sometimes multiple times a day, he would torture and brutalize me in ways that are impossible to imagine, starve and manipulate me, like I was an animal," she wrote in her book, per NBC News. After police rescued her, she testified against her captors. Mitchell is now serving a life sentence.
