Friends? How many of us have them? The friends we have shape our lives--for good and bad--whether we realize it or not. We are the average of the five people we spend the most time with. And with spring cleaning season in full effect, now is the time to look at your #squadgoals and see if your friends really motivate and inspire you to be your best, or if they're sucking the dear life out of you. Some friendships have an expiration date and there's nothing wrong with that. These are the types of friends you need to get rid of right now.
The Mad Hater
Homer Simpson once referred to something as "the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked." This pretty much sums up the Hater. This is the friend that is always criticizing you (and others). When the finger is pointed back, the Hater tends to deflect because, duh, she's a hater.
Woe is me. Le sigh. Debbie Downer is always sad. She loves to be emo--and whiny. Drake song lyrics are her life. Not even winning the lottery and making out with Idris Elba is enough to make her smile.
We all love a little gossip, but this friend crosses the line between fun, brunchtime tea into full-blown attack. The Gossip has something to say about everybody and best believe, when you're not in the room, she's talking about you too.
The Party Animal loves a good time. Monday through Sunday, she's lit and needs you to be right along with her. She doesn't care that you have a job to go to in the morning and that your liver is crying out for a night off.
Sharing is caring. Heck, look at The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. The Greedy Girl takes your generosity for granted beyond a pair of jeans. Whether she's asking you to spot her $20 for dinner or using your apartment like her personal Airbnb, this entitled little princess is always borrowing something. Heads up: You'll never get that $20 back, so don't bother keeping a tab.
The Mean Girl is probably the worst friend of all. That's because she actually hates you. She's the girl who tears you down at any given moment and goes after your boyfriend the next. Instead of being a girl's girl, she's constantly in competition to be Queen Bee of the squad. With friends like her, you don't need enemies.
