Nicki Minaj’s autobiographical TV show is well on its way to your living room. The show, based on the lives of Nicki Minaj and her family, has cast 11-year-old Ariana Neal as its little star who will play a young Nicki. “I literally cried watching her taped audition. I demanded to meet her!,” Nicki shared on Instagram.
Nicki, who is executive producing the ABC Family show, says she helped the young actress nail her audition. “Sat in a room with her teaching her how to rap by doing a beat on the table & forcing her to stay on beat! Lol. Then pulled out all the attitude she had in her lil body. Haha! She's tough! And so sweet & cute.” Previously, Ariana had roles in Fruitvale Station and the Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell comedy, Get Hard. The talented tween has been acting since she was three years old!
The rapper reveals that she handpicked every cast member (“I am honored and excited to announce that I've literally hand picked the main characters of my scripted series”). Others slated to appear include: Selita Ebanks as Nicki’s mom and Whoopi Goldberg as the family neighbor.
The show will air in 2016.
