It's been a good year for nostalgia. The new Goosebumps movie will hit theaters just in time for Halloween, and October 16 can't get here fast enough. In the meantime, we can at least enjoy the trailers. Sony just dropped the second one yesterday; legendary author R.L. Stine even tweeted about it.
The movie won't follow the plot of any particular book, but will instead be chock full of familiar characters, like that creepy Jack-o-Lantern, and Slappy, the dummy that traumatized you as a child. R.L. Stine is an actual character in the movie. When R.L. Stine's daughter and teenage neighbor accidentally release all of the creatures from the Goosebumps books, it's up to them to recapture them -- with the author's help, of course.
Jack Black will play the beloved R.L. Stine in the film, and while he may seem like a surprising choice, he's developed a own unique take on R.L., describing his portrayal to Entertainment Weekly as a "curmudgeonly dark, brooding beast master." Considering that R.L. Stine is like Stephen King for kids, it seems pretty fitting. Check out the trailer and decide for yourself!
