Being a superstar has ups and downs. On the one hand, Jennifer Lopez gets to date Drake, or at least pretend to for the sake of promoting some new music. One the other hand: stalkers. Having someone terrorize you after establishing a weird fixation on your person can definitely happen to anyone, and an ordinary citizen may not have access to the same protections as a celebrity, or time and money to spend in court. However, as a celebrity, you have a helluva a lot more people looking at you, which ups your stalker numbers considerably.
Jennifer Lopez just took a break from flying to Vegas to cuddle with Drizzy, to deal with a man who TMZ describes as “a transient” who has been trespassing on her property and showing up at her Los Angeles home. He’s also sent her lots of unwanted mail and flowers, which is creepy when it comes from a creep.
Lopez filed legal documents on Wednesday that allege a man named Timothy McLanahan also followed her all the way from L.A. to Las Vegas. He’s been arrested in previous incidents on her property before, and also in the past for threats and firearm violations, though they don’t specify if they were directed at Lopez.
A judge granted J.Lo a temporary restraining order that commands McLanahan to stay 100 yards away from her after she told the judge she fears for herself and her twins. This may not be the end for this particular stalker’s violations, but at least the judge is taking her fears seriously. Would much rather see J.Lo partying with my celebrity crush than going to the courthouse.
