Did Kim Kardashian cross a line with her Halloween costumes last week?
The reality TV star found inspiration from music icons this year, dressing up as Aaliyah, Cher, Madonna, and Selena Quintanilla, and showing off her hard work via her social media accounts. Not everyone was a fan of her detailed looks, however; Kim's Aaliyah costume drew a ton of criticism online, so much so that Kim recently took to her website to explain her costume choices and apologize for offending anyone, Billboard reports.
"Aaliyah was such an amazing singer and she will forever be a music legend," she wrote. "I saw online that some people thought my costume was in poor taste and I am truly sorry if that offended anyone."
"When I was creating the costume, I wasn't dressing up as a race or culture but rather as a woman whom I will always admire," she continued. "I play every kind of genre of music in my home and I like for my kids to be exposed to many different artists."
As Kim went on to explain, her intention was only to show love for her fave music icons.
"For me, it's always about love and respect," she explained. "I loved that Kourtney was Michael Jackson for one of her costumes, and that my son was Axel Rose. We don't see color in my home. We were paying homage to people and artists we love and respect — it's that simple!"
Kim's Selena costume was also met with a fair bit of backlash online, Latina.com reports. Maybe fans weren't feeling her "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom" mini performance?
Do you accept Kim's apology?
