These days we're pretty much constantly inundated with Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, and Beyonce. It's almost too easy to forget about the lady hip-hop OGs. But Lil Kim isn't letting herself go unnoticed: her latest track, "Panda," brings back the classic fire we know and love.
The new trap-influenced jam is produced by Brooklyn based MC Desiigner, who (according to Rap-Up) was just signed to Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music label. Kim comes in hard, delivering sexual insults like it was still the early 2000s. "Eat the booty like zucchini / He pulled it out, it was teeny / Pour some ketchup on that weenie," she spits nastily over the bassy beat. Self-proclaimed King of Brooklyn, Maino, also manages to keep up with the legend on his verse, altho he finds himself cut off by the track's just-over-two-minute runtime.
Early reviews of the new song are mostly positive, but some music journalists are already calling attention to the shoddy sound quality of the recording itself:
