In an interview with Bombshell by Bleu, Lil Mama responded to anyone who thinks she's taken shots at Nicki in the past, and while her response is admirable in some ways, it's more than a little bit shady.
"To be honest with you, I'm only responding to things that are being said, and I feel like most people they go with who they feel isn't supreme at the time and say, 'Oh no, she's doing this, she's doing that,'" Lil Mama began. "It's almost like being in class, and somebody keep kicking your chair, and then you turn around and smack the s**t out of them, and they're like, 'Whoa, she's crazy. Why did she get up and do that?'"
In case you missed it, Lil Mama threw shade at Nicki Minaj last month for rapping about inspiring women to rock pink hair; Lil Mama thinks it's Lil Kim who deserves the credit for making pink hair popular, and said as much on Instagram. Now, Lil Mama is saying she isn't concerned about getting into social media feuds anymore.
"That's petty, and I feel like these women, Nicki Minaj, Lil' Kim, who else — many of them — they are all six to 10 to 20 years my senior," she said later. "I have so much time and space to grow, that even if someone else is ignorant, let them be because once you pass 28, 30, you begin to get set in your ways. I can't teach older women how to be women — I can only teach the younger generation how to be women."
"I feel like if that's a responsibility I want to take on, I need to focus on making music that reflects that," she continued. "I need to focus on actions that reflect that because when you get out there in the yard and you just want to fight for something physically, you don't look any better than the person who's already been doing that and not making a great example for other people or putting another woman down."
Girl, ok. What is it with celebrities constantly talking about how they're over being petty, but saying it in the shadiest way possible? Don't talk about it, be about it.
