Mark Zuckerberg is a controversial figure: somehow both imminently punchable and delightfully socially aware. Despite his semi-dystopian forays into privacy violations and questionable charity organizations, Zucks at least attempts (to pretend) to be on the right side of history, as exemplified by a recent incident over at the Facebook offices in California.
It shouldn't be surprising that Facebook's overwhelmingly white and male staff are less than interested in hearing the arguments of the #BlackLivesMatter movement. Nor should it be surprising that said Caucasian dudebros were found graffiti-ing over a #BlackLivesMatter sentiment with the phrase #AllLivesMatter on company property, a practice which Zuckerberg had to denounce.
Zuckerberg took to an employees-only page to express the importance of respect on his company's campus. Here's the memo, obtained by Gizmodo:
Here's the thing though: if Marky Z actually wants to pretend to care about black lives he should maybe consider hiring some. Only 2% of Facebook employees are black.
