Will Beyonce follow her husband Jay Z's lead and record a joint album with another artist? Jay and Kanye West teamed up in 2011 for Watch The Throne, and Nicki Minaj says she's open to doing something similar with Beyonce one day, People reports.
"I would be open to doing [that] if the time was right," Minaj said in a new interview with Paper magazine. "I haven't thought too much about that, though. The only person that I've seen a lot of people speak on, when talking about an album of that caliber, is Beyonce."
Minaj and Beyonce have collaborated twice before, on "***Flawless (Remix)" and "Feeling Myself." They've even performed together, but fans probably shouldn't hold their breath waiting for the two to do a whole album.
"I always see a lot of people saying,'Oh my gosh, a joint album with you guys would be really dope,' but, you know, those are the kinds of things that are just wishful thinking from fans," Minaj said.
She went on to call the idea "far-fetched," explaining that, in reality, it's usually just too hard for two artists to fit a joint album into their schedules. Example: way back when, Nicki was set to record a mixtape with Future, but because he was on tour and she was busy recording an album, it just never came to fruition.
"So even when you like an artist and you respect their work, it's very hard to make those types of ideas come to fruition, but when they do come together like the Jay and Kanye [project], then it's magic for sure," she said.
Still, a joint album from Nicki and Beyonce would definitely be one for the history books. Fingers crossed!
