Nicki Minaj and her ex, Safaree Samuels, went their separate ways last year after a long relationship, and things have been getting progressively uglier since then. There have been diss tracks, tattoo cover ups, lawsuits, and now Twitter shade.
The 2015 American Music Awards were on Sunday, and Nicki took home an award for Favorite Album in the Rap/Hip-Hop category for The Pinkprint. Not everyone is happy for her, though - most noticeably, her ex boyfriend Samuels doesn't seem to be rushing to congratulate her.
After Nicki took her trophy home, Safaree took to Twitter to throw some shade, tweeting "Heard I won an award." This, of course, refers to Safaree's claim that he's the brains behind Nicki's rhymes. "The pen is always mightier than the sword," he continued, before dropping a reminder about his upcoming mixtape
Safaree is suing Nicki for back royalties, alleging that he deserves to be paid for the work he did on Nicki's albums. That tweet sounds like more of the same - and a blatant attempt to drum up interest in his mixtape. Nicki has yet to respond, which might be the best response of all.
