Paris Hilton Claims She Invented The Selfie

Along with a bunch of other stuff. You're welcome.

Paris Hilton was a woman before her time — in her eyes, anyway. In a new interview with W Magazine, Paris Hilton takes credit for inventing the selfie, along with a laundry list of other things that are hot these days.

"If a beeper had a camera, I would have taken a selfie with it," she said. "I think I have a selfie from when I was a little kid, like on a disposable camera."

So what else did Paris invent during her monumental rise to fame in the early 2000s? Being famous without having to take the traditional route, like acting or singing.

"We started a whole new genre of celebrity that no one had ever seen before," she explained.

"Nowadays, I feel like it's so easy becoming famous," Hilton added later. "Anybody with a phone can do it."

Where is the lie, though? These days, being an "influencer" is an actual thing people can make a living from, and we all have Paris Hilton to thank/blame.
