What's worse than living four years under a Donald Trump presidency? Not much, really, but living four years with Azealia Banks trolling every other person in the entertainment industry is pretty bad. Banks' latest nemesis is none other than Rihanna: the two engaged in an extensive social media argument throughout the weekend, with the discussion both highly political and beyond petty.
The chronology of the feud is hard to piece together, but the argument seems to have started with an innocuous tweet. Rihanna, being a compassionate and at least somewhat moral human, posted the following on Sunday:
Banks, being a Trump supporter, was not a fan and responded on Instagram. "As far as rihanna (who isn’t a citizen, and can’t vote) and all the rest of the celebrities who are using their influence to stir the public, you lot really REALLY need to shut up and sit down," she wrote of the Barbados native in response. "Stop chastising the president. It’s stupid and pathetic to watch."
The post has since been deleted, but read the post in full via a screenshot from The Daily Mail:
Rihanna responded in kind, with a morally righteous (but equally as petty) Instagram post, making a subtle reference to Banks' brujeria scandal:
Cool, cool. Is that it?
Nah: the girls kept at it.
Banks returned the volley with a screenshot of the above Instagram post and commented the following: "What rihanna meant was …. 'I GREW UP PLAYING SOCCER IN A DIRT YARD WITH A COCONUT AND OPEN MY LEGS FOR ANY AND EVERY MOTHERF—-KER WHO I THINK I CAN GET TO WRITE ME SONGS OR BUY ME DRUGS. I CAN BARELY PERFORM BECAUSE I LINE MY BROWN BLUNTS WITH CRYSTAL METH AND AM OFTEN VERY WINDED ON STAGE,'" she wrote.
That post has also since been deleted. Azealia paired the insult with a supernatural warning (also since-deleted, also preserved by The Daily Mail):
WE'RE NOT DONE YET!
Banks then went and posted RIHANNA'S DAMN PHONE NUMBER on Instagram. The number has since been disconnected. Banks also posted a flurry of since-deleted videos in which she told Rihanna to "plz stop being stupid and read some books. I beg you," and offerered to make her chicken nuggets, according to US Magazine.
Riri responded in kind, posting a text conversation with Banks that both accused Azealia of being a sex and drug addict and somehow attempted to drag Beyonce into this mess. That post has also since been deleted, but Rihanna temporarily changed her Twitter icon to the screenshot:
Things seem to have cooled off a bit since then, but that didn't stop our girls from posting vague pictures and even vaguer threats that may have been referencing each other:
Well, this was all just a disaster.
That being said: we're going to go ahead and give this victory to Rihanna. Largely because she is not a Trump-supporting bigot.
Sometimes that's all you need to win a fight these days.
