No, Rihanna isn't starring in her own biopic (although, how awesome would that be?). Everyone's favorite Barbadian bad gal will be making an appearance on the big screen soon, with a significant role in the upcoming sci-fi epic, Valerian. The film, which is slated for a 2017 release, is an adaptation of the long-running French comic, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, which follows two partners who travel through space and time. At the helm is French director Luc Besson, whose previous work includes the Scarlett Johansson-led action hit, Lucy.
It hasn't yet been revealed what exactly Rihanna's role will be, but she'll be joining an all-star cast that already includes Cara Delevingne, Dane DeHaan, and Clive Owen. Besson seems pretty jazzed about landing Rihanna for his movie, and shared the news on Twitter yesterday.
This won't be Rihanna's first time on the big screen: she had a minor role in 2012's Battleship. Let's just hope this film is much, much better.
