“Feuding Wendy” knows how to make friends by making enemies. Back in her shock jock days, Will Smith threatened to buy the station on which her radio show aired in order to have it cancelled. And yet, like the moment in a horror movie when you don’t want to watch but can’t look away, Wendy Williams has not only survived, she has thrived as the self proclaimed “Queen of All Media.” Here is an abridged list of some of the celebrities she’s come for. If you play your cards right, maybe someday you’ll be internet famous enough that she’ll start sh*t about you.
On Nicki Minaj
Nicki Minaj posted a video of herself yelling out her car window and laughing at a mentally unstable woman who was walking down the street in Miami, to which Wendy responded, “I don’t know if Nicki was on one or what at that time, but you need to be more sensitive to mental illness. It makes you look like an insensitive bitch.” Watch in full here.
On Blac Chyna
Williams accused Chyna of taking advantage of her soon-to-be husband Rob Kardashian after it leaked that the couple was shopping the rights to air the birth of their child. “Chyna comes from the world of the pole,” Wendy said. “'She runs into this guy, and she's taking full advantage of everything. So, I'm glad that she's not my kin. It's very fun to watch, she and her mom Tokyo Toni come up off the backs of people who don't see through their ruse.” Chyna fired back with some *choice* words on Insatagram, but later deleted her posts.
On Jesse Williams
Jesse Williams of Grey’s Anatomy gave an acceptance speech on BET that some looneytunes saw as being “racist towards white people,” to which Williams said, "I would be really offended if there was a school that was known as a historically white college. We have historically Black colleges. What if there was the National Organization for White People, only? There's the NAACP.” The Twit-o-sphere responded by pointing out that colleges for mostly or entirely white people are just called “regular colleges” and perhaps extra attention was warranted for historically oppressed minorities.
See no evil, speak no evil. Williams came for Queen Bey’s lack of articulation when she said, “I am a Beyonce fan. I’m gonna watch her upcoming documentary because fortunately one of the TVs in our kitchen has closed captioning so I’ll be able to understand what she says. You know Beyonce can’t talk. She sounds like she has a fifth grade education.” Fifth grade education all the way to the bank, gurl. #Lemonade
On Mariah Carey
Williams called Mariah Carey “too fragile for reality TV” in anticipation of the release of the new docu-series Mariah’s World. Mariah retaliated by Instagramming a video with the caption, “Don’t come for us unless we call for you @wendyshow” which is great, because at least both of them are being mature.
Williams said Real Housewives star Nene Leakes’ marriage to Gregg Leaks “lacked chemistry” to which NeNe responded, "She don’t know shit about my relationship. Have you ever seen her and [her husband] Kevin Hunter kiss? Yuck.” Williams responded by criticizing NeNe for bedazzling her Birkin bag.
On Caitlyn Jenner
For starters, Williams argues Caitlyn Jenner isn’t a woman because she “still has a member.” Even before Caitlyn’s transition, Williams came for Jenner for dressing effeminately, saying it must be awful for Jenner’s children to worry that their parent will show up “to PTA meetings with a shaved Adam’s apple, and a blowout, and pink nails, and a cigarette."
On Alyssa Milano
Alyssa Milano came on The Wendy Williams show and got into a heated debate about her role as a breast feeding advocate, to which Wendy responded, “I don’t need to see that,” continuing, “because I just don’t want to.” Milano continued to defend the practice of breast feeding in public, claiming that it is an opportunity to portray the female form in a positive non-sexual way, to which Williams responded, “Breastfeeding is only a particular amount of time, [but] the rest of your life, your breasts are sexual things," going on to call them “fun bags.”
On Kanye West
Williams has said on multiple occasions that Kanye West is a closeted homosexual and that his marriage to Kim Kardashian is “one of convenience.” West then called Williams a “man” and asked if she wants to go out sometime. Just kidding, but wouldn’t that bring it all full circle? Kanye did, reportedly, record a burn song about Williams, which Kim supposedly convinced him not to release because of her fear that Kanye would be labeled “trans-phobic.”
On Ariana Grande
Williams said of the ex-Disney pop star, “she’ll forever look 12. I don’t mean that in a good way.” Grande’s fans came to her rescue, getting the hashtag #CancelWendyWilliamsShow to trend, but fortunately (and unfortunately) Williams said it best when she said, “Right now, they’re wasting their breath.”
