The cast of Straight Outta Compton just got snubbed by the Academy Awards - again. Even though the critically acclaimed film was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, no one involved with the film, save for the two white screenwriters, were invited to attend the ceremony.
It's not unusual for the Academy to be tight-fisted with tickets, but to leave out the entire cast of one of the most popular films of the year - a film that's nominated for a major award, at that - is more than a little shady. And as Jezebel pointed out, it's common for actors and actresses who have never been nominated for an award to be invited to attend, and even present awards, at the annual ceremony.
Sigh. Are the Oscars irrelevant yet?
One person who isn't bothered by this blatant snub is Ice Cube, who told TMZ that he wouldn't have gone to the ceremony even if he had been invited. Check it out:
