While Donald Trump is not a fan of Beyonce or Jay Z, Tom Ford - who is friends with the couple and is even the subject of a hit song of his name - says that politics has nothing to do with his decision to not ever want to dress the First Lady-to-be.
“I was asked to dress her quite a few years ago and I declined,” Ford said on The View. “She’s not necessarily my image.”
He went on to say that his position has nothing to do with the fact that he's a Democrat who was "sad and disappointed" when Hillary Clinton wasn't selected for the Oval Office.
"Had Hillary won, she shouldn’t be wearing my clothes — they’re too expensive,” he continued. “And I don’t mean that in a bad way. They’re not artificially expensive — it’s how much it costs to make these things. But I think to relate to everybody, you shouldn’t be necessarily wearing [expensive clothes].”
However, he did famously dress Michelle Obama. So why the hypocrisy?
“Michelle, I dressed once — when she was going to Buckingham Palace for dinner with the Queen,” he said. “And that I thought was appropriate.”
Appropriate, indeed. I'll definitely be rocking Jay Z's "Tom Ford" with a teeny bit more bass next time around!
