It's about to be a Williams showdown at the 2017 Australian Open! Venus Williams will face her sister Serena in her first Australian Open final since 2003. But it's more than tennis. Venus' winning game face (after defeating CoCo Vandeweghe) has gone viral, representing that amazing feeling when you've accomplished your dreams.
At 36, Venus is the match's oldest competitor. This is the first time since 2009 that the Williams sisters have competed against each other for a championship. "Oh my gosh, it means so much, mostly because she played so well,” Venus said, per The Washington Post, after beating Vandeweghe. “Everyone has their moment in the sun, maybe mine has gone on a while, but I’d like to keep that going. I’ve got nothing else to do, so let’s keep it going."
“She’s my toughest opponent — nobody has ever beaten me as much as Venus has,” Serena shared. “No matter what happens, we’ve won. A Williams is going to win this tournament.”
