Was The Kardashian Robbery An Inside Job - Or Even A Hoax?

This is getting way complicated.

Anyone who doesn't live under a rock has probably heard that Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint Sunday night. The reality TV superstar was relaxing in her Parisian hotel room when two masked gunmen entered the room, bound her hands and feet, and threw her in the bathtub before making off with millions in jewelry. But ever since the news broke, internet detectives and media outlets have been speculating that something is amiss.

To begin with, Paris police believe that the robbery may have been an inside job, TMZ reports. According to their sources, the Kardashian family also believe that it's not a coincidence that Kim's bodyguard wasn't around when the robbers hit; they think the suspects were tipped off.

Kim had friends over for much of the evening, the source reports, and her bodyguard was glued to her side for most of the night, except when he stepped out to guard Kendall and Kourtney for a couple of hours at a local nightclub. While the Kardashian fam doesn't believe the bodyguard was in on it, they're convinced that someone had to have tipped off the robbers to let them know just when to make their move.

Not only are people wondering if it's an inside job, some are wondering if the whole thing is a hoax altogether. The New York Daily News has drawn attention to the fact that despite five armed men storming the hotel, no surveillance shots of the suspects have arisen, and even more suspiciously, the concierge who was allegedly threatened at gunpoint hasn't been interviewed by a single source - in fact, he hasn't even been identified.

I hate to say it, but it does sound a little fishy. But could this really all just be a publicity stunt to drum up interest for the return of Keeping Up With The Kardashians at the end of the month, as the Daily News suspects? Do these people even need more publicity?!

What do you think?
