The Voice's attempt to fill the void of the loss of Whitney Houston has been postponed.
Yesterday, leaked footage of Christina Aguilera performing with a Whitney Houston hologram went viral, and to put it lightly-- it wasn't the greatest love of all. According to TMZ, the late legend's hologram was set to make a surprise appearance alongside Aguilera for the show's season finale. It remains a mystery how the footage found its way to Facebook, but it has since been taken down.
To say that they made the right call would be an understatement. Houston's family was dissatisfied, noting that the hologram "didn't look like Whitney," and as the video began to spread online, they obviously weren't the only ones.
Whitney Houston's executive of the estate, Pat Houston, released a statement following the video's release, revealing that the duet had been cancelled.
"We were looking to deliver a ground breaking duet performance for the fans of both artists," Houston began, referring to Whitney and Christina. "Holograms are new technology that take time to perfect, and we believe with artists of this iconic caliber, it must be perfect. Whitney’s legacy and her devoted fans deserve perfection," he continued. "After closely viewing the performance, we decided the hologram was not ready to air. We have much respect and appreciation for Christina, and she was absolutely flawless."
