6-Year-Old Boy Was Shot Execution-Style In His Basement In ‘Truly Evil’ Triple Homicide

A 6-year-old and his father’s girlfriend were discovered shot “execution-style” in their basement in Michigan last week after the father’s body was found in a torched rental car in Detroit.

Maurie Thompson, the grandmother of 6-year-old Tai’raz Moore, had spoken with the boy just the day before the killings in Warren, Michigan, local outlet ClickonDetroit reports. He had a loose tooth, and he’d been planning to yank it out the next day.

“But tomorrow never came for him,” the grandmother told the outlet through tears.

The morning of Oct. 1, the body of Tai’raz’s father, 31-year-old Tukoyo Moore, was discovered in a burned-out rental car in Detroit, Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer said in a phone interview with Oxygen.com. When authorities went to the Moores’ home to notify the next of kin, they found the front door had been left ajar, Dwyer said.

In the basement were the bodies of Tai’raz and his father’s 28-year-old girlfriend, both shot multiple times in the head.

“The execution-style killing of a 6-year-old boy is truly evil, unthinkable and senseless,” Dwyer said. “Only monsters and godless creatures could pull the trigger on a 6-year-old.”

Although Michigan has outlawed the death penalty, Dwyer said he has spoken to the U.S. Attorney about the possibility of execution if the case goes to a federal level.

Multiple suspects are currently being investigated, and Dwyer said he believes the attack was drug-related. He also said it’s possible Tai’raz was killed because he’d have been able to identify the murderer or murderers if he’d been allowed to live.

As for Tai’raz’s family, they continue to mourn and hope for justice.

“You took my baby, you took my life,” Tai’raz’s mother, Brittany Harris, told local station Fox 2 Detroit.

Thompson has created a GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral expenses.

No arrests have yet been made in connection to this case.
