Brooklyn Rapper Fetty Luciano Arrested After Shooting At Long Island Mansion Pool Party

Brooklyn hip hop artist Fetty Luciano was taken into police custody this week and charged in a Long Island pool party shooting that wounded three people, authorities said.

The rapper, whose given name is Remy Marshall, was arrested in Glen Cove, New York on Thursday on attempted murder and gun charges stemming from the incident earlier this month. The 26-year-old musician also faces criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment charges. 

“After an extensive investigation, the Glen Cove Police Department was able to negotiate the surrender and arrest of Remy Marshall for the July 10th shooting at the Glen Cove Mansion,” Glen Cove Chief William Whitton said in a statement on July 21.

Whitton said the New York City Police Department’s Gun Suppression Division also assisted in the multi-agency investigation that led to Marshall’s arrest.

Authorities were dispatched to a private party at The Mansion at Glen Cove, an upscale hotel located in the Gold Coast estates neighborhood in Long Island, on July 10 after reports of gunfire. 

According to the New York Post, shots rang out after a security guard attempted to break up a skirmish between two partygoers. Three people, including the security guard, sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

Between 150 and 200 people attended the party, which had been billed on social media as The Mansion for the Big Fendi Birthday Celebration. Rapper Big Fendi is widely credited as discovering rapper, singer and actor Nicki Minaj, according to NBC New York.

The party was promoted as "NYC's only premium open format music pool party with Bottle, Food and Hookah Service — with RSVPs a MUST." 

The Mansion’s hotel’s liquor license has been temporarily suspended in the wake of the shooting, which is still under police investigation, the outlet also reported. 

Officials in the small Long Island city of roughly 28,000 people were swift to condemn the gun violence.

“This wasn’t something we ever expect,” Glen Cove Mayor Pamela Panzenbeck said, Newsday reported. “We go to high school reunions, weddings and fundraisers and all kinds of things here. These were not Glen Cove people that were here today, so we have to look into how they got here and how this happened.”

Panzenbeck vowed to crack down on large-scale parties at the luxury hotel going ahead.

“There will be no permits issued for anything like this in the future, I promise," the mayor added.

Marshall was expected to be arraigned in Nassau County court Friday. He has garnered millions of streams on Spotify and has upwards of 250,000 Instagram followers.
