Martha Stewart Calls Felicity Huffman’s Prison Uniform ‘Schlumpy’

Martha Stewart doesn’t seem to be a fan of Felicity Huffman’s style choices, judging by Stewart’s recent comments regarding candid photos taken of Huffman at a minimum security prison.
Huffman, 56, was recently spotted wearing what appears to be a dark green prison uniform, baseball cap, and glasses as she serves her time at the Federal Correctional Institution Dublin in California. Stewart attended a Vanity Fair summit in Los Angeles on Tuesday, where the lifestyle icon, who’s served time in federal prison herself, was asked if she felt Huffman had “learned anything,” at which point she took aim at Huffman’s outfit.
“She should style her outfit a little bit more,” she said, adding, “She looked pretty schlumpy.”
Stewart then continued on in a more serious tone, commenting, “She made a horrible mistake. Horrible. And she is experiencing what happens.”
Huffman began serving a two-week sentence at a California federal prison on Oct. 15, months after she pleaded guilty in May to conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud. She was sentenced in September to 14 days in prison and was ordered to pay a $30,000 fine, complete 250 hours of community service, and spend a year on probation after she completes her brief stint behind bars, according to the Associated Press.
Huffman admitted to paying $15,000 to have her eldest daughter’s SAT scores altered; in a letter to the judge, she apologized for her actions, which she said she committed out of “desperation.”
The "Desperate Housewives" star was photographed on Saturday during family visiting day, when her husband, actor William H. Macy, and youngest daughter came to the facility to see her, according to Page Six.
Stewart, 78, is no stranger to situations like Huffman’s; she was found guilty in 2004 of obstructing justice and lying to investigators about stock sales. She spent five months behind bars — during which time she earned the nickname “M. Diddy” — followed by five months of house arrest, CBS News reports.
Speaking about her time behind bars during a 2017 interview with Katie Couric, Stewart remarked, “It was horrifying, and no one — no one — should have to go through that kind of indignity, really, except for murderers, and there are a few other categories.”
“But no one should have to go through that,” she continued. “It’s a very, very awful thing.”
