Man Convicted Of Knifing His Wife To Death While Their 12-Year-Old Son Watched
Aurelio Terán faces more than 29 years to life in prison for the brutal slaying of wife Viridiana Terán, according to prosecutors.
A California man accused of stabbing his wife to death while their 12-year-old son watched was convicted this week in Los Angeles.
Aurelio Terán, 40, of Sherman Oaks was found guilty in the 2017 slaying of his wife, Viridiana Terán, 32. A jury found him guilty of first-degree murder, criminal threats, injuring a spouse, and dissuading a witness from reporting a crime, according to a Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office press release.
On the night of Aug. 26, 2017, “Terán assaulted his wife ... and threatened her,” the press release added. The following morning he knifed her to death in front of their young son, then 12, in their home in Sherman Oaks.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office declined to comment on the case to Oxygen.com.
"When the officers arrived at the location, they found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds," according to a 2017 Los Angeles Police Department press release. "The victim was transported to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries."
Police arrested Terán days later in Ventura County after he was involved in a car accident. Terán was reportedly identified and arrested by authorities after being struck by a vehicle in Camarillo.
Police "recognized the suspect as the person being sought for the murder of his wife [and] Teran was then placed under arrest," the LAPD release added.
Terán faces 29 years to life, according to the district attorney. He’ll be sentenced on April 30 by the Los Angeles Superior Court.
