'You're A Sick Pervert,' Utah Mother Confronts Man She Says Peeped At Her 12-Year-Old Daughter
Doris Stiles-Scown berated 36-year-old Jorge Leon-Alfaro while he sat on the pavement waiting for the police to arrive.
A mother chastised a man on Facebook Live, calling him a sick pervert and berating him after she says he tried to record her 12-year-old daughter in a changing room stall at the Brickyard Plaza in Salt Lake City.
Doris Stiles-Scown uploaded the now viral video on Aug. 18, and it has over 15 million views.
The video starts with a man sitting on the pavement surrounded by other men,and Stiles-Scown yelling at him.
"This right here is what a predator looks like," she says as she fights back tears and films the man. “I caught this guy underneath my daughter’s stall while she was changing at Rue 21.”
The man, identified by police as 36-year-old Jorge Leon-Alfaro, was arrested on the scene, according to KSTU in Salt Lake City.
Police said Leon-Alfaro was trying to film Stiles-Scown’s daughter with his cell phone. In the video, Stiles-Scown said she and a store employee caught the man in the act and he ran into the parking lot. She caught up to him and a group of onlookers made sure he didn't leave.
“Not today, buddy. Not today,” Stiles-Scown says in the video. “I’m going to make sure your face gets out, so that you’re not in any more stalls, looking under little girls' dressing.”
Police said they had enough evidence from witnesses to charge Leon-Alfaro with voyeurism of a child under 14.
“People are aware of what’s going on and paying attention,” Salt Lake City Police Det. Greg Wilking told KSTU. “Other people were paying attention too and saw similar things that concerned them and that led to his arrest.”
Stiles-Scown said she couldn't imagine what kind of effect this whole thing would have on her little girl.
"What you did," she said, "you're gonna leave a scar on my daughter permanently."
The man sat on the ground quietly while he was being filmed. Stiles-Scown said she was going to make sure the man was punished.
"(You) bet your ass I'm going to be at every single court date," she said.
