Kareem Hunt Allegedly Involved In Violent Nightclub Fight One Month Before Brutally Assaulting Woman

The one-time Kansas City Chiefs running back was with another former team member, George Atkinson, and they are both accused of participating in a nightclub beatdown that left one man with a broken nose and a broken rib.

One month before assaulting an unknown woman in a hotel hallway, former Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt was allegedly involved in another violent incident, this one involving a group of men at a local nightclub.

A 37-year-old man told Kansas City Police earlier this year that he was attacked at the Mosaic nightclub in Kansas City on January 7, according to a police report obtained by Oxygen.com.

The alleged victim was heading to the club’s restrooms when he spotted a friend of his being pushed by three men, one of whom was former Chiefs running back George Atkinson, he told police.

When he went to confront the group, Atkinson punched him in the shoulder, at which point he punched Atkinson in the face.

From there, chaos erupted. The alleged victim told police that a group of men that included both Atkinson and recently-ousted Hunt “came from all over” and “jumped” him.

The majority of the hits were kicks, and the attack was severe enough to cause him to lose consciousness for a time, he told police. He was then taken to the emergency room, where he was treated for multiple injuries, including a broken rib and a broken nose.

Witnesses reportedly told the alleged victim, who admitted to authorities he was intoxicated at the time of his assault, that there were between six and eight men who attacked him.

He reported the incident to police four days later at the urging of his family.

The case was closed because the alleged victim declined to press charges, KCPD Sgt. Jacob Becchina told Oxygen.com.

Video published by TMZ on Tuesday was reportedly taken immediately following the Jan. 7 altercation and appears to show Hunt being held back by another man as he attempts to get near someone or something out of the camera’s view.

Hunt, 23, became a free agent after being axed from the Chiefs on Friday, the same day of the release of a troubling video that shows him pushing and, later, kicking an unknown woman during an argument in a hotel hallway.

NFL officials stated that Hunt was “not truthful” when league officials initially asked him about the incident, a claim which Hunt himself confirmed during an interview with ESPN this week.

“I didn’t tell them everything,” he said. “I don’t blame them for anything. My actions caused this and I really wish I could apologize to them and let them know, it’s no hard feelings between me and the Chiefs.”

Hunt’s troubles with the league seem to be far from over, however. The NFL has also launched an investigation into claims that Hunt punched a man in the face at a resort in June, and he may be disciplined for that infraction as well, according to NFL.com.
