A Florida woman allegedly took a knife to a man’s face in the middle of the night after he refused to have sex with her.

Police were called to Katherine Nieves-Tavarez’s Vero Beach apartment at around 3:30 a.m. on Thursday. When they arrived, they found her live-in boyfriend standing in the doorway of the home with his face covered in blood, according to an arrest report obtained by Oxygen.com. He allegedly told police that “She hit me with a knife. […] I can’t see.”

The victim told police that he was sitting on his living room couch when Nieves-Tavarez, 27, approached him for sex. He said she had been drinking and he refused her advances. He said that “after declining multiple times,” Nieves-Tavarez “became angry and started yelling at him.”

Then, it got physical.

Nieves-Tavarez allegedly took a “large, silver kitchen knife” and followed her boyfriend outside to the home’s patio. It was there that she allegedly slashed him.

Police say the victim had “multiple lacerations to his face,” and “redness around his neck and chest area.” They noted he also had a torn shirt. He was transported to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Police cuffed Nieves-Tavarez and charged with her with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to online records. Her bail was set at $15,000 and as of Monday morning, she was still incarcerated. It’s unclear if she has a lawyer who can speak on her behalf.

This is not the first time Nieves-Tavarez has been accused of domestic abuse. Last year, she was arrested on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge, according to online jail records.
