A roofer fatally attacked a co-worker with a circular saw while they were working together in rural River Falls, Wisconsin, police believe.

Maguel A. Nabarro, 24, has been arrested and charged with first-degree intentional homicide for the death of 37-year-old Israel Valles-Flores, according to online jail records

On Monday afternoon around 4:30 p.m. police were called to an address for a report of a work-related injury, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Valles-Flores was found on the roof of the home unconscious with “severe lacerations to the neck and face,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement, according to KMSP in Minneapolis. Responding deputies reportedly tried to revive the subcontracted worker but Valles-Flores died at the scene.

Police believe that Valles-Flores’ fatal injuries were caused by a circular saw, used on him by Nabarro. A circular saw is a power-saw which used a toothed disc or blade. It is typically used to cut material and it is a common tool used amongst roofers and woodworkers.

Nabarro cannot post bail. It does not appear he has a previous criminal record. It’s also unclear if he has a lawyer who can speak on his behalf at this time.

A possible motive for Monday’s attack has not been released. After the attack, the worksite, which appears to be a home located in a tree-covered area, was taped off by police, according to the Pierce County Herald.

Both Nabarro and Valles-Flores were subcontractors from St. Louis.
