Vince Vaughn Charged With Driving Under The Influence In California, Fails Field Sobriety Test
Vince Vaughn was stopped at a checkpoint in Hermosa Beach, California, at around 1 A.M. local time.
"Swingers" actor Vince Vaughn got busted in Southern California Sunday morning for driving under the influence.
Vaughn, 48, was arrested around 1 a.m. by Manhattan Beach Police after he failed a field sobriety test captured by body cameras, police told KNBC in Los Angeles.
He was stopped at a security checkpoint south of Los Angeles International Airport with an unidentified passenger in the car. The passenger was charged with public intoxication, and both were charged for delaying the investigation.
Vaughn wasn’t "fighting with officers but more delaying the investigation," Manhattan Beach Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Tim Zins told CNN. "There was no officer use of force or anything like that."
Police impounded Vaughn's vehicle. Vaughn did not submit to a breathalyzer, but instead chose to have his blood drawn. His blood alcohol level was not immediately known, authorities said.
Both men were taken to the Manhattan Beach jail and later released. Vaughn will have to appear at the Los Angeles County Superior Court in Torrance at an undetermined date.
Vaughn has not commented on the arrest.
The actor has been in trouble with the law before. He was arrested in 2001 after a bar brawl where actor Steve Buscemi was stabbed in the face and throat when he tried to break up a fight between Vaughn, screenwriter Scott Rosenberg and another man while they were working on a movie in North Carolina in 2001. He pleaded no contest and the charges were later dropped.
