18-Year-Old Madam Gets Jail Time For Pimping Out Teen Girls

She was sentenced to 13 years in jail for prostitution and human trafficking four girls between the ages of 14 and 15.

Though she’s smiling in her mug shot like it’s a high school yearbook photo, Jelinajane Bedrijo Almario is very far from an innocent teenager. Police in Hanford, California say she began pimping out girls when she was just 16-years-old. The now 18-year-old was just sentenced to 13 years in jail for prostitution and human trafficking four girls between the ages of 14 and 15, according to the Fresno Bee.

Police say Almario befriended the girls through mutual friends and social media, and tempted them into prostitution with promises of all the money they’d be making. In truth, Almario pocketed most of the money they made, in one case keeping 90% of the profits, according to the Hanford Sentinel newspaper. After convincing the girls to work for her, she would post their photos on different websites for prostitution, and take them to have sex with men in different hotels around Central California.

Almario would book the girls for days at a time. Police caught onto the teen prostitution ring when Almario threatened one of the girls’ parents after she asked where her daughter was. Despite being 16 at the time of her arrest, Almario was tried as an adult for human trafficing and making terrorist threarts. Hanford Police Detective Richard Pontecorvo described the teenage madam as hardened and unremorseful, and told the Sentinel, “she deserves every bit of [her sentence]."
