Jason Aldean was on stage when the shooting began-- leaving at least 50 people dead.

Country star Jason Aldean was on stage at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas when a mass shooting broke out last night. As CNN shares, at least 50 people were dead and more than 400 people injured as a result of the gunfire and ensuing stampede of people trying to escape.

Aldean took to social media to share his condolences for the victims. "Tonight has been beyond horrific....My Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved tonight. It hurts my heart that this would happen to anyone who was just coming out to enjoy what should have been a fun night."

Other celebrities have spoken out as well.

Jake Owen, who was on stage before Aldean, wrote on Twitter, "Praying for everyone here in Vegas. I witnessed the most unimaginable event tonight. We are okay. Others arent. Please pray."

Donald Trump shared his "warmest condolences."

Taylor Swift, who began her career in country music, tweeted her reaction.

British singer Harry Styles described the incident as "heartbreaking," while comedian Kevin Hart added, "Sending so many prayers to the victims that were affected by this tragedy in Las Vegas. My heart goes out to you all."

Celebrities ranging from Bette Midler to Khloe Kardashian also added their thoughts.

As The Independent reports, this is the most deadly mass shooting attack in US history. Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo confirmed that the main suspect in the attack is 64-year-old Stephen Paddock. He opened fire at Route 91 Harvest country music festival on the Vegas strip from the 32nd floor of a hotel. He was later shot dead by authorities and officers used explosives to burst into his hotel room. Lombardo shared that several firearms were discovered in Paddock's hotel room at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino.

The motive for the attack has not been determined at this time.
