'Mentally Unstable' Teen And Her Infant Daughter Missing In Colorado

The teen does not have full custody of her baby. 

Police in the Denver metropolitan area are looking for a mentally unstable teen mother who does not have custody of her infant daughter and has allegedly taken the baby from state custody. 

On Saturday, 17-year-old Jessica Schnitzer fled her group home along with her 7-month-old daughter La’Nayah, according to the Denver Post. Schnitzer did not bring clothing, formula or care items for the baby. She does not have full custody of her child.

“Jessica is mentally unstable and is believed to have suicidal tendencies,” the police reportedly stated.

According to an ABC affiliate KMGH in Denver, Schnitzer and her baby may be with Maree Tibbetts, 17. Tibbetts was also staying at the group home.

Schnitzer is Latina, 5-foot-3 and 105 pounds. She has brown eyes and shoulder-length brown hair that she often holds in a bun. She last was seen wearing dark sweatpants and a white T-shirt. She sometimes goes by the nickname “Chasity Medina.” Tibbetts (pictured below) is 5-foot-4 and 120 pounds, has short brown hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a black hoodie, white shorts and athletic shoes. La’Nayah has brown hair and brown eyes.
