Wiz Khalifa Says Kanye West Stole Ideas For His New Album 'Waves'

Wiz demands Kanye pay homage.

Kanye West announced that his album Swish has been renamed to Waves on Twitter last night. One person who wasn’t so thrilled was Wiz Khalifa, who blasted Kanye for stealing the title from another rapper.

“New album title, WAVES,” Kanye shared on Twitter, calling it the album of his life.

Not so fast, Kanye. Real hip-hop fans know that New York rapper Max B popularized the term “wavy” and many, including Wiz Khalifa, found the title to be a serious jack. “Please don't take the wave,” Wiz tweeted immediately following Kanye’s announcement. “Max B is the wavy one. He created the wave. There is no wave without him.”

Amber Rose’s exes didn’t directly speak but it was clear that something had to be said. The topic trended for hours. Eventually Kanye made an attempt at an apology, to which Wiz flatly responded:

Kanye went ham on Wiz. “You own waves????  I own your child!!!!” he shouted. He also referred to himself as an “OG” and claimed that Wiz was “distracting” him from his creative process. Things also got personal, when Kanye chided Wiz for marrying Amber Rose (who he also famously dated). “You wouldn’t have a child if it wasn’t for me,” he said. “You let a stripper trap you.”

Here are the Twitter screen grabs, since he took them all down:

Is this anger really over an album title or something more?
