A Pennsylvania woman is behind bars facing attempted murder charges after she allegedly stabbed her husband multiple times during a violent domestic dispute at their home over the weekend, authorities said.

Marica Pejcic, 57, allegedly threatened to cut her husband “like a pig,” before plunging a pair of kitchen knives into the sleeping man’s head at their home on Sunday afternoon, according to an affidavit of probable cause obtained by Oxygen.com.

On March 20, Manheim Borough Police were dispatched to the 200 block of North Charlotte Street around 2:30 p.m. after reports of a possible domestic assault. Upon arrival, investigators made contact with Pejcic’s husband, who had been stabbed in the head and face at least five times.

The man, who wasn’t identified, told responding officers he was sleeping on a couch in their home when he awoke to his wife attacking him with kitchen knives. Authorities say Pejcic yanked a blanket off her spouse and stabbed him in the right eyelid, as well other places on his face and head, charging documents stated. As she thrust the blade into her spouse, she repeatedly screamed “I kill you,” at the wounded man, the probable cause affidavit also stated.

The victim was blinded momentarily and struggled to defend himself during the attack, police said.

“The victim stated that he could not see because of the blood in his eyes,” the probable cause affidavit alleged.

Pejcic had threatened to harm him prior to the stabbing incident, the man told police.

Under police questioning, she allegedly confessed to uttering death threats at him. According to charging documents, Pejcic was possibly angry at her spouse because he'd previously had her involuntarily committed to a psychiatric facility.

“The defendant also admitted that she has told [the victim] that she wanted to kill him in the past as she motioned with her hand against her neck in a cutting motion,” the case’s affidavit stated. “The defendant stated that she would kill [the victim] if he sent her to a mental hospital again.”

Pejcic had also allegedly told her husband she "was going to kill [him] by cutting his head like a pig," the victim reported, according to the case’s complaint.

Pejcic is now facing one count of attempted homicide and two counts of aggravated assault in the domestic incident, according to prosecutors.

No further information was released by authorities in the attempted murder case.

A spokesperson for the Manheim Borough Police Department didn’t immediately respond to Oxygen.com’s questions surrounding the open case on Tuesday afternoon. The Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office also declined to comment this week.

Pejcic is being held on a $500,000 bond at Lancaster County Prison, jail officials confirmed with Oxygen.com. It’s unclear if she’s retained legal counsel to comment on her behalf. She has a preliminary hearing before Magistrate Judge Scott Albert in Lancaster County District Court on April 1 at 1:30 p.m.
