It's Bisexual Awareness Week. The week, co-founded by GLAAD, aims to "to accelerate acceptance of the bi+ community" in public policy, and to celebrate those who identify as bisexual.
Here are seven celebrities that have put the spotlight on their own bisexuality.
Angelina Jolie's marriage (and divorce) to Brad Pitt may be her most famous romance, but the actress has been in a relationship with a woman. In 1996, she dated actress Jenny Shimizu and in 2003, she admitted to being bisexual in an interview.
Mel B has been married for years, and many fans may not know the Spice Girl had a longterm relationshp with a woman. "I had a great five-year relationship with a lovely lady who I still talk to to this day, and that’s that," she said in an interview, per Life & Style. "I mean, if it happened yesterday I would probably be saying something different. But I’ve been happily married to my husband for seven years."
Remember when Drew Barrymore smooched Liv Tyler on the Oscar red carpet? The actress has openly talked about being attracted to and dating women: "A woman and a woman together are beautiful, just as a man and a woman together are beautiful. Being with a woman is like exploring your own body, but through someone else. When I was younger I used to go with lots of women. Totally. I love it."
While some celebrities choose to keep their private lives private, Disney star Bella Thorne announced that she was bisexual in a very open way; by kissing her brother's ex on Snapchat. Previously, she shared kisses with the same girl on social media.
Michelle Rodriguez is unapologetic about her life, and that includes who she chooses to fall in love with. In 2013, the actress opened up to US Weekly about her sexuality, saying, "I've gone both ways. I do as I please. I am too f*cking curious to sit here and not try when I can. Men are intriguing. So are chicks."
Once Christina Aguilera shed her "Genie in a Bottle" image, the pop star has been upfront about her fluid sexuality. She even shared her attraction to women with her now-ex husband, saying, "I don’t get to kiss all the girls and the boys, but my [ex] husband knows that I get into girls. I think it’s fun to be open and play. The line is real to me. My husband and I check in with each other, but I definitely love women. I think they’re more attractive to the naked eye.”
Raul Esparza is the no-nonsense DA on Law & Order: SVU. The veteran Broadway actor married (and divorced) his high school sweetheart Michelle but opened up to the New York Times about being bisexual.
