In a new interview with Complex's Everyday Struggle talk show, Rose opened up about what it was like dealing with such a public breakup.
"I see this a lot on the Internet: 'Amber's going to hurt him.' I've been the one that's been heartbroken. I have never cheated on any of my boyfriends," Rose said. "I still have never said anything mean about Kanye. This is after six, seven years of constant bullying from him."
Kanye's fifth album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, came out in 2010, the same year that he and Rose broke up; naturally, many rushed to assume that many of Kanye's lyrics were about Rose, which made things even more difficult for her.
"It's a great part of history and it's a great part of hip-hop, and I'm happy to be a part of it, but that time was not a great time for me," she explained. "I'm famous, and I'm broke. I can't date anyone else. I can't say anything on the Internet because Kanye has such a voice. If I was going to kill myself, I would have done it during those times."
Rose also spoke candidly about the Twitter fight that she got into with Kanye last year, after Kanye came at Amber's ex Wiz Khalifa and brought their child into it, writing, "You let a stripper trap you. I know you mad every time you look at your child, that this girl got you for 18 years." At that point, Amber hit back with the "fingers-in-the-booty-a**-b*tch" line, and the rest is pop culture history.
"You don't say nothing about my baby," Rose explained during the interview. "I was quiet for so long. I could have got a reality show just off the fact that I was his girlfriend. I could have wrote a book just off the fact that I was his girlfriend. I said, you know what? I'm a real ass b*tch. I'mma take the high road and work my a** off, and I'm going to get everything I get on my own, so nobody can be like, 'Yo, I gave her that.'"
