Don’t try to shade Amy Schumer on Twitter, honey. One 17-year-old wannabe film critic learned the hard way. Jackson Murphy, a teenager who runs a website called Lights-Camera-Jackson, posted a photo with the actress at the Critics’ Choice Awards, where she won for her starring role in Trainwreck.
“Spent the night with @amyschumer. Certainly not the first guy to write that,” Murphy tackily shared, in a tweet that has since been deleted. Amy served him right back and Jackson, being the punk kid that he is, quickly apologized.
Amy quickly put the matter to rest.
It’s unclear where Jackson’s tweet came from. Was he being a punk teenage boy, slut-shaming Amy (who has long spoken about the double standards on women in Hollywood) or was he referring to her character in Trainwreck? If you haven’t seen the movie, Amy plays a woman who bed-hops and struggles with intimacy. She is…a self-professed trainwreck. Maybe it’s a little bit of both. Jackson’s tweets are pretty PG and his attempts at humor are usually pretty terrible, so it’s possible this was just a joke gone awry.
Either way, if this blogger wants a career in Hollywood, he needs to choose his words a bit more selectively next time. Calling a famous movie star a slut--after she’s constantly fought that label--is not how you get clicks.
