Today would have been Bobbi Kristina Brown's 23rd birthday. The daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown was found unresponsive in her bathtub in January of last year, and remained in a medically-induced coma until her death on July 26.
After a judge issued an order to release the information, the Fulton County Medical Examiner's office revealed that a combination of drowning and drug intoxication is to blame for Bobbi Kristina's death.
"The cause of Bobbi Kristina Brown's death as determined by the Fulton County Medical Examiner is: Lobar pneumonia," the statement reads. "Due to: Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, delayed effects. Due to: Immersion of face in water complicating mixed drug intoxication."
US magazine reports that the drugs found in Brown's system at the time of her death included "marijuana, alcohol, benzoylecgonine (a cocaine-related substance), benzodiazepines (medications used for sedation or to treat anxiety) and morphine." Toxicology tests were unable to determine whether the morphine resulted from heroin usage.
Brown's family has long suspected boyfriend Nick Gordon of causing Bobbi Kristina's death, while he has steadfastly denied any wrongdoing. Hopefully now all parties involved can finally find peace.
