Brody Jenner Called Racist After Instagram Post About Keith Lamont Scott’s Death
No one needed this.
People love to call her shallow, but Kim Kardashian has at least spoken up in support of Black Lives Matter. You may not be interested in hearing a celebrity’s opinions on political issues, but they can have a big influence on a lot of people. Brody Jenner, Caitlyn Jenner’s son, probably has less of an influence than most fake DJs, but people still noticed when he stopped messing with iTunes long enough to go on a rant about “why does everything has to be about race” shortly after police released a video of Charlotte, N.C., citizen Keith Lamont Scott being shot by an officer.
In a comment captured by The Shade Room, he wrote, “If you have an officer of the law telling you to exit your vehicle (or do anything for that matter)…you comply. And not only do you comply, but you do so willingly and follow directions completely… If I, as a white male, did those things, I’d expect that I’d be putting myself in danger of being shot because I’d be making myself a perceived threat. This world is getting out of hand with the race issue. Maybe I say that because I’m not racist. I see humans as equals. You shoot me, or you shoot an African American, we are both humans with the same beating heart. Why is everything these days about race? Why?"
If you’re wondering why everything is about race after taking two paragraphs to explain why a black man deserved to be shot, you have probably missed the point.
Brody got dragged on Twitter, but that hasn’t stopped him from posting passive-aggressive “All Lives Matter” hashtags all over Instagram, attached to photos of his dogs and himself in the car.
He also shared a screenshot of a comment from someone calling him a cracker. I guess words are only important when they hurt his feelings.
