Cardi B rubbed a few fans of Selena Quintanilla the wrong way earlier this year when "Motorsport" dropped. The song, which is a collaboration between Migos, Nicki Minaj, and Cardi, features Cardi referencing the queen of Tejano music as well as Daddy Yankee's 2004 hit, "Gasolina."
"Let me wrap my weave up," Cardi raps at one point. "I'm the trap Selena, dame más gasolina."
Some fans didn't take too kindly to the "trap Selena" lyric, and took to Twitter to let Cardi know just how they felt.
Cardi finally responded to the criticism via Twitter on Wednesday, Huff Po reports, explaining that her Selena mention was done in love.
"I said Trap Selena because who didn’t wanted to be Selena?" she wrote. "She is a alter ego that everybody would want to be and i want the world to know how much i love her."
