Ditch Expensive Makeup Sponges And Use Socks Instead
A brilliant hack for looking like a diva on a budget.
Socks have become one of the best beauty items around. First there was the sock bun, and now there's the sock sponge? This DIY beauty hack is a cheap and brilliant way to apply makeup.
Beauty vlogger Mayra Isabel uses a (clean) sock to apply makeup all over her face. According to her YouTube tutorial, she discovered the hack when she was going through her sock drawer and saw the soft, thick, fluffy texture of their heels. She headed to Walmart and bought a three-pack of ClimateRight by Cuddl Duds Low-Cut Socks ($6) to test them out in her foundation routine.
"This might be the next BeautyBlender, just saying," Mayra says. "It's going to save you a lot of money too." The BeautyBlender sponge has developed a cult-like following among makeup fans as a go-to for makeup application but they can be pricey at $20 each--not to mention, a pain to clean. Next time, just head to the sock drawer.
