Dr. Dre May Sue New Movie For Depicting Him As Abusive
Dr. Dre's ex-girlfriend says he was abusive in her new movie -- and he's threatening to sue.
What really happened at Death Row Records? The TV movie Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel'le shows the hip-hop label from the perspective of Michel'le, a singer who dated both Suge Knight and Dr. Dre. According to TMZ, Dre is livid about how he's portrayed and he's threatening to sue.
The producer and mogul is reportedly shown as an abusive, violent boyfriend. TMZ says that his character is seen attacking Michel'le, pulling her hair, punching her in the face and pulling a gun on her. Dre's legal team has sent a cease and desist letter, stating that the singer never mentioned abusive nor filed a police report when the alleged incidents occurred.
This isn't the first time Dre has battled allegations of abuse. In 2015, TV host Dee Barnes blasted the movie Straight Outta Compton for glossing over Dre's violent behavior against her and others. Dre issued an apology to the women he affected by saying, "I apologize to the women I’ve hurt. I deeply regret what I did and know that it has forever impacted all of our lives." Michel'le said the apology was insincere.
