Kanye Says Kim Is Why People Are Cool With Interracial Couples And Body Positivity
"[Kim] is breaking boundaries on so many levels."
By now we all now that Kanye has a rather inflated image of himself. I mean, dude has a song titled "I Am A God." Turns out, Kanye also thinks rather highly of his wife, Kim Kardashian. In an interview with Steve Harvey, Kanye goes as far as crediting the body positivity movement and the increasing acceptance of interracial couples to his boo.
Here's what Kanye had to say:
"[Kim] is breaking boundaries on so many levels. You can't give me an example of as popular of a mixed couple and I've got friends that have had like ...that have white wives that before there was a Kimye they would go to the amusement park and people would be talking down to them, treating them a certain kind of way. She broke boundaries with that."
And later in the interview:
"She broke boundaries in fashion where designers wasn't trying to make clothes for woman with shapes and now they all about really embracing and empowering woman. Women empowerment, a matriarch society where women can make money."
I mean, sure, kind of? Like, Kim's omnipresence probably couldn't have hurt the body positivity movement. And her ubiquity probably did help some people be less weird around interracial couples, I guess. So he's not entirely wrong.
Anyway, considering the Internet's reactions to interracial couples being featured in Old Navy and Macy's advertisements, it seems like Kim has a lot of work left to do before we all live in a magical wonderland of tolerance and acceptance.
