Katy Perry Might Star In The New 'Clueless' Musical
Is Katy Perry the new Cher Horowitz? Clueless --the 90s classic that brought us revolving closets, baby doll dresses and awesome slang--is becoming a musical. Who better to play the starring role of the spoiled Beverly Hills brat than California native Katy Perry? Amy Heckerling, who wrote and directed the comedy, says that the “Fireworks” singer is her first choice to play the role that made Alicia Silverstone a household name.
"I love Katy Perry," she tells Vulture. "But you never know what will happen, she has a whole big schedule." Katy is apparently interested in the role. “It was like ‘I love it, I wish I could do it,’" says Amy. Before you say, what-ever, Katy has already shown an interest in acting, appearing in The Smurfs, The Smurfs 2 and the TV series Raising Hope.
Clueless the musical is hopefully set for 2016. The creator hopes that you betties who loved the original will dig the musical version. “I don’t think you will go, ‘Oh, it’s just karaoke to the movie, or it is an entirely different animal.’ It is true to the movie, but it sings, hopefully.”
