Kehlani Hospitalized After Attempted Suicide Following Social Media Bullying
The singer is now in stable condition and recovering.
Life came really fast last night for the R&B singer Kehlani who revealed she had survived a suicide attempt earlier in the day.
The sad news came just a few hours after a social media frenzy caused by her ex-boyfriend, OVO singer, PARTYNEXTDOOR. In a now-deleted photo, PND posted a pic to IG that clearly showed the popular “The Way” singer’s recognizable “WOKE” hand tatt with the caption: “After all her shenanigans, still got the r&b singer back in my bed”.
The pic immediately began to fuel cheating rumors, since Kehlani has publicly been in a relationship with the NBA star point guard, Kyrie Irving. The two posed in a pic together as recent as two weeks ago, with Kyrie's caption, “Good ole fashioned partners”.
The whispers turned into total and outright social media bullying, from blog posts to tweets, IG comments, and more. It apparently all became too much for Kehlani, who eventually deactivated her social media accounts, but took to her IG to clear the air with this heartbreaking post just minutes before:
“[T]oday I wanted to leave this earth,” wrote Kehlani. “Being completely selfish for once. Never thought I’d get to such a low point. But.. Don’t believe the blogs you read .. No one was cheated on and I’m not a bad person… Everyone is hurt and everyone is in a place of misunderstanding.. But as of today, I had no single wish to see tomorrow.. But God saved me for a reason, and for that… I must be grateful.. Cuz I’m not in heaven right now for a reason… On that note.. Bye Instagram.”
The “Did I” singer is now reportedly in stable condition. She re-activated her IG to address negative comments about her seeking or creating drama for attention. She made the following comment before deleting again:
Kehlani’s vulnerability has sparked a conversation online about depression and an outpouring of support for her from family and friends to fans. I’m sending my sincere love and hope for a healthy recovery: mentally, physically and emotionally. Here’s a few from others:
