Kim Kardashian Drinks Charcoal Lemonade To Look That Good

And apparently, it's as disgusting as it sounds.

The Kardashians have made me a skeptic with all their weird diet products— mostly because it appears that it's mostly sponsored content. They’re not rich for nothing—they’re rich for hawking everything from faulty waist trainers to detox tea that probably doesn’t do much more than give you the runs. And now, Kim Kardashian is talking in a new blog post about a freaky new drink that helps her stay slim? Eye roll.

But she got me. It sounds too weird and gross to go by without comment. Kim wrote on her website about the five things she loves to eat that keeps her fresh and looking tight:

"I'm not super into the whole 'juicing; craze, but Pressed Juicery's fresh drinks taste amazing and make the perfect snack! I'm currently into the Charcoal Lemonade, which is rich in vitamin C. I swear, when I drink it, I feel cleansed and energized throughout the day… Bio-K is my daily probiotic. I love that it keeps both my digestive and immune system balanced!"

Did you miss that? Charcoal Lemonade.

It’s the fad sweeping the nation! Or at least those parts of the nation that want to eat burnt citrus. The drink contains “activated charcoal” made from coconut, peat, coal or wood. Yum. It’s considered a detox material by the fitness lovers who gulp it, probably because charcoal is often used in cases of poisoning in hospitals. The material absorbs the bad stuff—in an emergency. For daily intake, I don’t know. According to BuzzFeed, lots of people make their own charcoal mixes at home, but it has its perils. The material can absorb “toxins” but it can also absorb any medications in your system or vitamins in food. It doesn’t discriminate.

I assume Kim has all the medical supervision money can buy, so she’s probably fine, but beware. Black juice isn’t always as good for you as it looks.
